Dal Locke's report:
Today Tom and I headed out to the White Rock Lake trail. Everybody else opted out
today for another ride manana. It was an absolutely beautiful day for riding. Temps
in the 70's again and not a cloud in site. Tom brought his camera and we took some
nice photos of me racing by with a blurred effect.
We rode from Hillcrest and 635 down the trail south and then stopped at Jake's
hamburger joint for lunch. We finally found a plug inside next to the beer sign and
Tom plugged in. Tom is fairly new to the electric biking scene so he is still a little shy
about plugging in at establishments. He was trying a stealth move to try and hide the
fact that he was stealing electricity. Ha Ha Ha. It's amazing how we all go through all
the same stages of learning and enjoying the joy of electric bikes. We had a big ole
burger and a couple of beers while the battery topped off.
We then headed toward the lake and tooks some pictures. On the way back our
batteries were feeling a little low so we had to stop again for food and cerveza at the
Stone Lion bar and grill. We headed in there with batteries in hand and asked if it
was ok to plug into an outlet to charge our electric bikes. You should have seen their
faces. I don't know if they were scared or did not know what we were doing. Anyway
we plugged in by the pool table and video games and had some beer and snacks.
The bartender lady was very friendly and asked a lot of questions about the bikes.
One of the customers came outside and asked us all about the bikes. Seems he
wants to make one to haul people in a rickshaw at the new Cowboy stadium in
Arlington.
Ideas we came up with this ride:
1. Need to print some DEBA cards to hand out to interested people.
2. Group ride to Fort Worth one day on the train.
3. Group ride to Austin on Amtrak and spend the weekend on the trails there. Fun!
4. Doug wants to go up east and ride on a new trail.
5. Tom suggested we map out all the outlet plug locations on all the trails.
6. We might make some posters and hang out part of the day with the Free Advice
guy at white rock.
7. Spend more time at "The Goat club".
