Dal Locke's report:

We met up at the Mockingbird Dart rail station today for a ride.  We had two new
participants,  Ken and Steve  Ken borrowed my Currie 24v bike with the Ping 10Ah
battery and Steve used Doug's easy rider laid back bike.

Doug's keen eye spotted a problem with Tom's rear wheel before we left.  It soon
disintegrated and blew out about a 1/2 mile out.  We rode over to a bike shop in
University Park and Tom manually walked her over shortly after.  They trued the
wheel and Doug replaced the tube and tire and we were on our way after about an
hour delay.   With a new ride there are always things that need to be fixed up during
the first dozen or so rides to get everything optimal.  Eventually you end up with a
very reliable ride once all the bugs are gone and everything is tuned up properly.

We made it over to the Katy Trail after almost getting ran over by numerous drivers
on Preston Road that were in a hurry or just plain not paying attention.  It was nice to
get off the road and on to the trail.  We made it downtown to the Victory park center
and had to quickly hook it back to the cars so Ken could go to the Opera with his wife
that night.  Ken, you need to get your priorities straight!  Just kidding.  In the future we
probably need to not plan anything else on ride day so we can drink some cold ones
and or eat something half way through the ride.  The Currie 24 volt ping 10ah battery
made it the 13 miles we rode as expected and then ran out of juice 1/4 mile from our
vehicle.  Not bad.  Doug said I could run that bike at 36 volts so I may try that later.

I think we all have the "I love electric biking bug".   Looking forward to the next ride.
