Dal Locke's report:
I'm glad Doug told me about the ride on Saturday benefiting the Make a wish
foundation. I know and appreciate that organization well. I knew two sick children
that benefited greatly from the deeds of these good people before they died. What a
great idea, and it really means so much to the kids who are facing terrible situations.
The ride started at 8 am at the Frito Lay HQ in Plano. I did not want to get up that
early but I had to do it because of what I have seen make a wish do. We were trying
to hook up with a state representative that Doug had let borrow a bike. We took off
trying to find them. I went way ahead and fast looking for an electric bike. I never
saw it and I went all the way to McDermmot and 75. That was about 14 miles and
then back. My battery was starting to get a little low so I pulled in and plugged into an
outlet and got my hair cut. By the time I was looking better, the battery had enough
charge to get me back to the Tollway and Legacy where the race began. There were
a lot of people in the ride especially since this is the first year of this event. Look
forward to coming back year after year. There were 3 different lengths with the most
being 100k.
We met back up at the starting point, opened up the coolers and chilled for awhile,
and went back home. It was a beautiful sunny morning and afternoon. Then it started
raining for the rest of the weekend.
